years in prison. The last time he was arrested was in 1996 and at the time he
was 84 years old. But he managed to repulse the police and was last seen by
officers on 24 June 1996; the octogenarian, who used a wheelchair, disappeared
while he was being transported from prison to hospital for treatment. He went
missing at New Delhi railway station when he was
being taken to AIIMS under a police escort from Kanpur jail for treatment, after which he was

Mithilesh Kumar was born in the Siwan district of
Bihar in 1912. He had committed the first theft of 1000 rupees in that period,
taking money from the bank by signing his neighbor. Natwarlal's skill was such
that he would sign anyone's eyes at a glance, in August 1987 the name Rajiv
Gandhi, a large watch showroom in Connaught
Place.
Wearing
a white shirt and pants, Mithilesh Kumar, who arrived by car, introduced
himself as DN Tiwari, a personal employee of Finance Minister Narayan Dutt
Tiwari, saying that PM Rajiv Gandhi's days were not going well, so he called

after he came to know that the film Natwarlal starring Amitabh Bachchan
was named after him in court. After much debate, Natwarlal withdrew the lawsuit
by taking three lakh rupees from the producer-director. This film brought him
much fame.
Necessary
documents were signed to sell the Parliament House, even with the fake
signature of President Rajendra
Prasad and he extorted money from
foreigners. It is said that once President Dr. Rajendra Prasad
came to the neighboring village. Natwarlal got a chance to meet him. Natwarlal
also showed his skills in front of him and surprised everyone with the
President's signature. Natwarlal told the President that if you say once, I can
repay the entire debt of foreigners on India
and return them to India.
When
in June 1996, he escaped from the platform of Old Delhi
railway station; the police brought Natwarlal from Kanpur
jail to Delhi
AIIMS for treatment on court orders. After showing up at the hospital, when a
team of Kanpur police arrived at the Old Delhi railway station to
retrieve Mithilesh, Natwarlal gasped loudly.
One
of the sergeants pretended to be sick, asked him to take medicine, sent the
other to fetch water and the third made an excuse for the toilet and ran to
the bathroom. He was 84 at the time. He has not been seen since. In 2009, when
Natwarlal's lawyer filed a petition to remove 100 cases filed against him,
Natwarlal's brother Gangaram gave an affidavit that he had died in 1996 only 13
years earlier.
Natwarlal's name has now become an idiom, which is given to every fraudster as Comanche.
According to the decisions taken against him in more than 100 cases registered
in eight states, he has been sentenced to 113 years.
